Our Country’s Bad was a theatre production created by THEATRE IS… and performed by local young people and professional artists in Luton in 2012.
Our Country’s Bad tells the story of Jamie Condron, a recent graduate from drama school who started to run a youth drama group at the local community centre. However, when Jamie tried to introduce classical work to the group things turned sour. With a performance looming how can Jamie and the young people make their mark whilst being true to themselves?
A poignant and engaging play written by Ricky J Payne and young people from Luton based on Timberlake Wertenbaker's ‘Our Country’s Good’. The show was created for a performance at The Hat Factory in Luton and fused of song, dance, spoken word and animation. The performance sought to set the local community in Luton at the heart of the story.
This production gave young performers a rare opportunity to work with professional artists creating a rich environment for sharing, learning and building professional experience.
